Children's Ministries at
Harbor Covenant are committed to helping children...
|
 |
connect with
Jesus Christ as their Savior, Lord, and best friend --
growing as His disciples in their daily lives.
|
|
 |
connect with
others in the body of Christ -- knowing they belong and have
a happy home here |
|
 |
connect with the
needs of the world -- becoming equipped to be ministers in
their school, neighborhood, and home
|
|
Our ministry team
consists of volunteers who work diligently to share with our
children not only the Good News of Jesus, but their lives as
well. We appreciate our volunteers!

Advent Family
Celebration
Advent Family Celebration
Bring your
family, bring a friend. Listen to Christmas music and
enjoy a light snack while you work together on an Advent
wreath to highlight the season of Advent. Advent is the
four week period that precedes Christmas, a holy time of
anticipation not of presents but of the coming of Jesus.
The word
"advent" means "coming" and refers to the coming of
Jesus as anticipated by the Old Testament prophets.
"Coming" also refers to the fact that Christ has come,
and that Christ will come again. Come as a family to
make an Advent wreath with candles for each week of the
season. Then set aside some time at home each Sunday
evening and make the celebration special: take turns
reading and lighting the candles so that everyone can
actively participate in what might become for you a warm
family tradition.

Christmas Pageant
Christmas Pageant
Always a
highlight of the Christmas season, the children's
Christmas Pageant is a delight to adults and tons of fun
for all the children of Sunday Class age, from sheep
with socks for ears to glittering angels dancing; from
rough and tough shepherds to besplendored wisemen to the
focal point of it all, God coming to live among us. And
of course, half the fun is watching the adult leaders
prompting, encouraging, and comforting from the front
row!

This year's we
will be learning about
serving Jesus in
God’s Big Backyard
(our homes and communities). VBS is a
five-day program for children
(1st - 5th grades in the Fall) in our community. Children
participate in Bible learning activities, crafts,
recreation, singing, and a special missions project. In
recent years the hallways have been transformed into
river rafting canyons, we've gone to the Wild West, the
Nile, experienced our own nod to the 2004 Summer
Olympics, and have gone to exciting Africa ... and the
County Fair. Last summer kids rocketed into outer
space at the Cosmic City: Where You Explore The
Awesome Wonder of God! Come join in a week of excitement
and challenge

GENERAL
INFORMATION
|
Worshipping with children (helpful hints)
• Most
children will not participate fully in each area of
worship and tend to "check in and out." Sit so your
child can see what is going on. Children get tired of
looking at the back of heads. Realize that just being
with you, sitting on your lap or snuggling close, and
watching you and others participate in the many ways of
worship is a learning experience for children. Teaching
by example is one of your most powerful teaching tools.
• Find ways
your child can participate... by looking for words in
the bulletin they recognize; by having them draw a
picture of something they see during worship; by having
them stand and sing along with you; by having them put
their coins in the offering.
• Children's
bulletins and crayons are available at the Information
Booth in the Lobby of the Worship Center, just outside
the Sanctuary. |

Bibles
Bibles
To be
consistent with the Bible used in our worship services,
we recommend the New International Version. When our
Sunday School children have completed the 5K's class and
enter the 1st grade in the fall, the Children's Ministry
Staff presents them with an NIV children's Bible,
encouraging use as they enter our 1st grade program in
the fall |

Our
nursery -- a cooperative effort
Our
nursery -- a cooperative effort
We desire to
provide an efficient nursery with adequate staff to
provide nurture and instruction for our children. Our
nursery is a cooperative system that assures enough
adult assistance to every child in the department.
We ask every
parent who regularly uses the nursery to help at least
once or twice in a 3-month rotation. Please choose which
worship service is most convenient for you and let our
Nursery Coordinator know when you will be available to
help out. Thanks you! |
