At
Harbor Covenant, we represent a wide range of ages and
experience. We respect and love our senior members, and
express that by providing a wealth of opportunities for
them to fellowship, to continue growing, and to be
served as needs arise.

Day trips
Day
trips
Seniors enjoy
day trips to places such as Leavenworth; Holland Days
Festival in Lynden, WA; and the Lavender Festival at
Sequim. Volunteers schedule buses, advertise trips, and
take reservations.

Homestretch

Ladies (60+)

Hospital visitation
Hospital visitation
If seniors
are hospitalized, we visit them regularly, providing
special times of talking, prayer, and support. The
visitors do this particularly when seniors are in the
hospital for an extended time.

Luncheons for seniors
Luncheons
for seniors
The ministry
schedules and oversees approximately five luncheons a
year for seniors, and a Veterans Day dinner. Volunteers
arrange for and serve as speakers, musicians, cooks,
servers, decorators, clean up crew, and transportation.
Shopping assistance
Shopping assistance
We provide
assistance in shopping to elders who need help getting
such things as medications and groceries.

Sitting for the
caregiver
Sitting for the caregiver
Volunteers
sit with house-bound elders who need constant
companionship or attention, to allow some release time
to the primary caregiver.
Soup Brigade
Soup Brigade
The Soup
Brigade makes and stocks the church freezer with batches
of soup, ready for emergency needs such as when a senior
returns from the hospital or is sick. The visit that
comes along with the soup delivery is a big part of the
ministry. Call the church office to request soup. (Lots
of joy in the making and delivery too!)
Tape ministry
Tape ministry
We bring
tapes of Sunday services to seniors who can't attend for
short or long periods of time.

Transportation
Transportation
Sometimes
seniors need assistance in getting to doctor's
appointments, grocery shopping, going to the library,
running errands, visiting friends, and getting to and
from church-related activities. The Transportation
Ministry helps them get where they want to go
Yard work
Yard work
Need yard
work on a temporary basis? Volunteers coordinate and do
the yard work for seniors whose yards need some TLC.

Tom Holdych or
Mary Quanrud for more
information and to volunteer to help with any of these
ministries. |
