During our gatherings at Harbor Covenant, music is not the point – worship is. Although we have different expressions of worship through different forms of music, we gather as a community to give glory to the One to whom it is due. We recognize that people have different heart languages in regards to music preference and offer three gatherings to make worship through music meaningful to people’s heart language. When we gather, we worship through music, prayer, experiential exercises, and other avenues. The story of God is the story of the divine entering into the messy – thus, we value freedom in Christ in our worship expressions. We aren’t striving for comfort – we are striving to encounter the living God in authentic community, whatever that may look like. We will celebrate and we will be reflective; we embrace brokenness, yet live in victory; we will pray and hear the word; and we will participate as a community in activities that draw us near to the heart of God.
Our 10:00 a.m. service is a more rock-driven, contemporary style with a full band in which we have communion every week and experiential activities regularly incorporated.
Typical Monday night gatherings don’t feel like church at all. We meet in our cafe area of the Gathering Place around tables. One of the pastors will spend time talking about a relevant issue and what the Bible has to say. We further engage with the topic through video, songs, prayer, art, and optional discussion time. We also share communion.
